This summer has been incredible, it has definitely been one of the best. I went to Chicago to visit my friend, Hannah, for my 21st birthday. It was an awesome trip.
I got home and headed to Epoch Week in Kentucky for youth camp. It was the first time I had been to camp since I graduated. I got to hang out with some awesome seventh graders and see God do some incredible things. I loved every second of being there.
I got to go see my beautiful friend, Kels, in Miss Alabama the first weekend in June. She did fantastic and it was good to be able to support her.
I was able to go back to Camp Crestridge and see all my wonderful friends from last summer. I was able to see Emily, get her Belle disk and see Stephen Curtis Chapman perform at closing program.
I spent every Thursday night in Ryan and Steph’s living room learning about how much God loves us and our desires are too weak and not too strong. We went through Jesus + Nothing = Everything by Tullian Tchividjian. It is an incredible book that I would highly suggest for people who want to be challenged in their walk.
I watched the Olympics like everyone else and was captivated by the Fab 5 (Jordyn Weiber, Gabby Douglas, Aly Rainsman, Kyla Ross, and McKayla Maroney), Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin, and Usian Bolt. I can’t wait for Rio 2016. I got to have some friends over for dinner and to watch the opening ceremonies.
I spent time with three wonderful girls. I will have gone through the entire book of Matthew by the end of the week. I’ve taught Angela Thomas’ Brave and A Girl’s guide to Life by Katie Meier. Brave is an awesome study that applies to every woman. A Girl’s Guide to Life is something that I found at Lifeway and it was incredible. If you are a pre-teen or teenager, or the mother of one, I would definitely suggest it. It is chalk full of practical information and she doesn’t pull any punches.
I got to see two different friends get married. I went to Mobile to Ben and Jessica McLeod’s Wedding, which was absolutely beautiful. This past weekend, Mama and I went to Landra’s wedding in Huntsville and got to see her become Mrs. Rod Black. It was wonderful and she was glowing bride.
As if all that wasn’t enough to fill up my summer, I worked full time at Sherwood Baptist Church as the media intern, aka Hayley Catt’s assistant. It was a great experience and I learned so much. I got to design all kinds of stuff and work on the Communicator every week. I loved it and can’t believe 10 weeks as already come and gone. I’m so thankful for the opportunity I had this summer.
So this summer has been awesome and I feel like my friendships have deepened, my relationship with the Lord has grown, and my knowledge of how to do things in my field of Journalism has improved greatly. My summers are coming to an end and I definitely got a taste of what a full time job would be like. I cannot believe that I start SENIOR YEAR of college in less than week. I’m so excited about the things that the Lord has planned for this year.
Enjoy some of my adventures this summer!
