Calm down.

You are still an infant in so many ways. There is life after high school, even if you feel like it now. In the great scheme of life, high school is a dot. Yes, high school is fun but it is not the end all, be all to life. I’ve been out of high school almost 7 years and of the people that I graduated high school with, I talk to two normally and have kept tabs on about three more. That’s five of the 40 I graduated with, in case you were wondering. But if you hate high school, grin and bear it, it will be over before you know it. Don’t–however–wish it away. 

Here are some do’s, don’t’s, and never’s for you to consider:

• DO share Christ with your friends (yes, even at a Christian school)
• DO listen to and obey your parents
• DO be at church every time the doors are open
• DO have good clean fun
• DO have school spirit
• DO go to all sporting events you can
• DO play a sport or be a cheerleader
• DO be on student council
• DO be in a play
• DO be on yearbook staff
• DO be an encouragement
• DO stay up late talking about boys with your best friend
• DO spend your time doing what you love
• DO go on a mission trip
• DO have lots of sleepovers with your friends
• DO make memories
• DO get dressed up and go to prom
• DO find an older woman to spend time with
• DO find a younger girl or a group of girls and invest in them
• DO enjoy time with your siblings
• DO learn how to cook your favorite recipe that your mom makes
• DO study hard
• DO apply to as many colleges as you want
• DO make your high school a better place
• DO leave a legacy

• DON’T be afraid to be yourself.
• DON’T give to peer pressure
• DON’T complain about how awful things are
• DON’T date unless you really want to
• DON’T compromise your convictions or standards

• NEVER cause unnecessary drama
• NEVER hurt a friend on purpose
• NEVER start or spread a rumor
• NEVER let someone talk you into doing something that you’re not comfortable with
• NEVER let a boy dictate the physical boundaries of your relationship

Enjoy high school, it only happens once. It will be over before you know it.
